Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Devin Gold Vortex Drop Riffle (VDR) mats special?
The Devin Gold VDR mats are important because the vortex drop riffles offer extremely high recovery for fine gold material (flour and micro-fine gold) that other sluice mats leave behind. This extra recovery increases earnings and allows areas to be high banked at a profit that otherwise would be uneconomic.
The VDR mats will dramatically lower the time it takes to do a cleanup compared to traditional cleanup methods. The mats are alsocheaper than most other recovery options in the same category. This means you save time, you save money, and you will recover more gold.
We at Infinity have tested numerous products and it is our opinion that these Devin Gold VDR mats are by far the best fine gold recovery product in the world. At their modest price point, they offer incredible value to any prospector that may encounter fine gold. Considering the time saved and the extra recovery, we paid for our first unit in about a day of testing which shows just how high utility these items truly are.

I still have some black sand left over after a cleanup, how do I get completely clean gold?
The easiest way to get clean gold is to snuffer up the clean gold in the vortices close to the V mat. Generally though, there will always be a small amount of black sand in your super concentrates until you do the final finishing work. You may rerun the material through a finishing sluice again (two passes is recommended) and increase the flow rates or pitch. You may also use a simple but highly useful method like back panning (Demonstrated HERE ) to finish off the concentrates and get nearly all of the gold from the stubborn black sand. To remove the final few stragglers an easy method is to dump out the dry gold on paper and blow very gently to move off some of the last particles.
I have a discount code. How do I use it?
There is a slot to apply a code on the “Review order page” during the checkout process.
Can I pay in CAD or another currency?
All of the prices on this website by default are in USD (United States Dollars). So if you live in the US, shop normally.
For those outside the US, we do accept AUD, CAD, Euro etc Your final charges will be in your local currency but the checkout process will likely display USD unless specifically indicated otherwise (for example, through the PayPal checkout portal).
Do you ship outside of North America?
Yes, we have recently added new shipping options to our site including shipping to several European countries as well as to Australia, South America, and Mexico. We have also added several new shipping types to provide more flexibility to our customers no matter where they may live. We are working to expand our logistics to Australia to get reduced shipping costs in that area (to be announced).
When will my package arrive?
We will do our best to ship your order on the next business day. Orders are shipped through Canada Post, and then through a local national carrier like USPS if necessary. The standard shipping option generally arrives within ten business days or two weeks. The Xpresspost option is generally 5-6 days in US / Canada guaranteed by Canada Post. Due to COVID there has been huge increases in the mail volume so some of the mail flows have been slow and inconsistent across the board so it is possible there will be minor delays that are outside of our control. Once an order is shipped a tracking number should appear in an automated email. Once a package crosses a border the tracking responsibility shifts to the local carrier (you may need to hop websites from CP to USPS to track the full progress for example).
If you have chosen a shipping method like small packet that has no tracking, then the package cannot be be externally tracked until it arrives.
What are some best practices to get the most from my VDR products?
To ensure longevity of your VDR rubber products it is recommended to store them in a cool, dry area during the off season. Some rubber items may discolour if left in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time outside of normal operation, so it can be helpful to shade sluice runs, move them during down time, or operate with the mats facing north if you intend to use them in a wash plant located in a hot climate.
To get your sluice or highbanker dialed in and learn appropriate modifications for your specific material types it is instructive to do frequent tailings checks so you can make adjustments necessary for maximum recovery with maximum throughput.
Having a consistent feed rate and adequate water flow for the vortexes to do their magic is key for success. Generally a longer sluice run is better than a short one especially if you are mining gravel with a high percentage of black sand.
Is there flour gold in my area?
Probably. Flour gold is found all over the world, especially concentrated in the northern hemisphere along the areas that were once covered by glaciers and natural lode deposits. In practical terms this means there is a small amount of gold found pretty much anywhere. Flour gold can be discovered in every province, territory, and state in Canada and the US. It is a matter of concentration and using basic prospecting skills to locate new deposits. There are active gold mines all over the place and generally each of those super economic concentrations will have flour gold eroding and concentrating down stream. In previously mined areas there are often halos of low grade flour gold that were left behind, including gold in tailings that was missed by initial processing. With VDR tech and rising gold prices many of these once uneconomic deposits can now be processed for a profit, on a small and large scale.
How do I get my own gold claim?
The process and costs involved vary by area. In areas without major mining activity there often is no formal claim system but generally most places with gold will have an online system that controls mineral titles such as Mineral Titles Online (MTO) in BC. You will want to do as much research as possible to narrow down a good spot and follow the proper channels and local rules. In BC this means acquiring a Free Miner’s Certificate and a British Columbia business ID number (BCeID) account that allows you to log in and use the online system. To claim an unclaimed area it costs a little over $100 for an approximately 50 acre cell. There are gold claims worth millions of dollars and lots that are worth nothing so the general rule of thumb is that you need to get value for your money. Do not buy an expensive gold claim unless it comes with a lot of the work done (ie, it has a deposit already discovered, drill data, permits, ponds and infrastructure in place, good equipment etc. That is worth a lot of money and if you start from scratch that’s stuff you will have to build up yourself in order to increase the value of your claim.
